Trim Options

Selecting the right trim is as important as the siding itself. We recommend discussing these choices with your contractor early in the project to ensure the best fit for your climate and style. This is a standard part of our first meeting with you.  Showing you the differences in cost, and aesthetics remember, not all trim types are equal; the right selection ensures both aesthetic harmony and long-term durability for your exterior renovation.

  • Wood:  Wood trim is cost-effective, though it requires regular maintenance to prevent rot. The wood you get now, isn't like it used to be 40-70 years ago " Old Growth". Today what we get is from trees that were grown fast, making them more susceptible to rot, causing regular maintenance and paint.
  • Aluminum Trim Coil: Extremely low maintenance and versatile for custom fitting, yet it can be susceptible to physical dents. Placing metal trim coil is a go to option for many contractors, and in some areas, it's a perfect fit. Although at 3D exteriors we like to look at each project needs to determine if it's the right option. If your existing trim is aged, or starting to rot, the common problem is the trim coil, after a few years may not hold up. The old trim behind will not hold the trim nails and you may have problems with longevity, where the trim coil can rips right off the home, potentially causing damage.
  • Composite Trim: Provides superior resistance to moisture and insects, is much less susceptible to dents, and dings. Composite trim does come in a farl less variety of colors than Aluminum trim coil does, but offers excellent longevity, though at a higher initial price point.
